Fifteen different trees and ten different shrubs are found in the meadows. Crack-willow, Grey Willow, White Willow and Purple Willow are all present.

Black-poplars used to be regarded as very characteristic trees of river banks and damp places generally. They feature in several of Constable's paintings, including those of the river at Flatford Mill. A few have recently been planted in the meadows. Other trees include several examples of English Oak, Ash, Sycamore, Field Maple, Lime, a Wych Elm hybrid and a single example of Bird Cherry. The latter, which is a small tree, is pictured in flower below.
