About 70% of all the plants found in the water meadows fall into this category. Over the years, more than 170 species of flowering herbaceous plants have been recorded, and although a small number of these may have been lost, new species are not infrequently added to the list. Nearly all are now a permanent feature of the meadows. The accompanying pictures show a small selection of the flowering plants that can be seen today, together with two that were present up till a few years ago and could easily reappear.
