Sources of Money

Harnham Water Meadows Trust is a relatively small Registered Charity. Its affairs are managed by volunteers with a minimum of professional advice. The Trust is grateful to Natural England and Defra for the significant grant aid they receive through the Environmentally Sensitive Scheme(ESA) to help cover the day to day management of the meadows and some of the capital costs associated with management of the water meadows. These grants help us to maintain historic landscape of the meadows, manage parts of the historic water meadow system and enhance the Site of Special Scientific Interest SSSI with its protected species, for example the water voles.

The Trust has no endowment and like most charities has to raise further funds to carry fulfill its mission.

There are five ways in which individuals and organisations can help:

Join the Friends of Harnham Water Meadows Trust

For details of how to do this click here. Subscriptions and the money raised at events enable the Friends to contribute several thousand pounds each year to the Trust.

A Donation to the Trust

Donations can be sent to the Trust and may be Gift Aided.

Sponsor the Restoration of a Sluice

Costs vary according to the size and condition of the structure to be restored to its proper working condition. Proposals may be discussed by writing to the Trust. Sponsorship by an individual taxpayer can be Gift Aided.

General Sponsorship

This can be tailored to suit the sponsor. Proposals may be discussed by writing to the Trust.

Legacies

A particular form of words is required and setting up a legacy should be done with the help of a solicitor. The most important thing is to include the Trust’s Registered Charity Number (1001360).

In each case contact The Harnham Water Meadows Trust, Caprice Cottage, Middle Winterslow, Salisbury,  SP5 1QJ, UK.
